RVC arrangements for the Fall Term 2022

(Updated on 25 Aug 2022)

All UGC-funded UG and RPg lectures will do RVC recordings by default for the whole Fall Term. To cater for the huge volume of recordings, the following RVC practice will be adopted in the Fall Term 2022:

  • Every lecture will be captured by a fixed, single, high-definition, wide-angle network camera. No pan-tilt-zoom of camera or motion tracking will be implemented.
  • Tutorial will not be recorded. Support for individual request to address specific RVC needs will also be suspended.
  • RVC feed, if requested, will have the same fixed-angle video image as the RVC recordings.
  • All RVC recordings will begin exactly at the start-time of the lecture and end 5 minutes after the lecture. No video editing will be offered.

For TPg programs, MTPC will do RVC recordings for the first two weeks only (free of charge). Thereafter, they should approach MTPC to request more RVC arrangements if needed, and the programs will cover the charge.

RVC available in ALL Classrooms

Starting Fall 2020, RVC services are available in all teaching venues managed in central timetable. Two-third of the venues are equipped with 1080p HD Camera for high quality video recording. Besides recording face-to-face lectures, RVC also supports mixed-mode online teaching. Users can use “RVC feed” to share the video signal of RVC camera during a live class. It is ideal for instructors who want to teach like face-to-face or use whiteboard during a Zoom class.

myRVC Web App

myRVC is newly developed by MTPC's RVC team. It is a web app optimized for mobile phones which enables users to check real-time status of their RVC recording anytime and anywhere. The status reflects the flow of RVC: 1. “Scheduled”; 2. “Recording”; 3. “Processing”; 4. “Viewable” or 5. “Cancelled”. Users can confirm video capturing if status is “Recording” or view their videos directly via the web app if the status is “Viewable”. Simply access “https://myrvc.ust.hk” to keep track of your RVC status.
